South America is a continent of extremes. This vast landmass has everything from the world’s highest mountain to the driest desert and some of the most spectacular scenery in between.

1. Machu Picchu, Peru: This ancient Incan city is one of the best places to visit in South America. It’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet, so get there early if you want a quiet moment before all the crowds arrive! 

2. Iguassu Falls, Brazil / Argentina: The world’s largest waterfall system is made up of 275 waterfalls along the border between Brazil and Argentina. It’s an incredible sight that shouldn’t be missed by anyone visiting South America! 

3. Torres del Paine National Park, Chile: This national park is home to three granite towers – Paine Grande (3,050m), Paine Chileno (2,712m) and Paine Central (2,535m). You’ll want to spend at least two days hiking through this.
